How much is your time worth? For most, their time is a precious commodity. If you like to fill your fuel tank so it is completely full, you are probably spending more time than you think at the pump. You want your tank to be completely full so you can accurately check your fuel mileage, and get an extra 50 or so miles out of each tank.
Lets take an example: Lets say you drove your truck 20,000 miles last year. If you averaged 17 miles per gallon, you burned 1176 gallons of fuel. Lets say you spent the extra time at the pump slowly trickling the last 2-3 gallons into to the tank. It takes you an average of 10 extra minutes to do this little ritual each time you fill up. If you squeeze 33 gallons into your tank each fill up, you filled your tank 35 times over the course of the year. 35 fill ups times 10 minutes extra at the pump equates to 5 hours and 48 minutes that you spent standing there staring down your fill tube last year! If you keep your truck for 160,000 miles, you will have spent almost 46 ½ wasted hours standing beside your truck!!!How much of that time was spent with impatient truckers waiting behind you? How much of it was spent standing in the freezing cold or blazing heat? How much of it was spent watching your significant other shake his/her head wanting to get back on the road?
Here’s the solution: Over 1000 people with 3rd generation Dodge diesel trucks are using The Fuel Tank Vent Kit. The kit relocates the tank vent to the highest part of the tank. The stock vent is capped off with parts supplied in the kit. You will now spend less than a minute after the pump clicks off to get your tank completely full of fuel. Any competent backyard mechanic can do the installation. It requires that you drop your fuel tank and drill a hole in the highest part of the tank at the rear. You install a bulkhead fitting and elbow, run the hose to the stock metal vent line on the fill neck, and cap off the stock vent. Installation time averages 3 hours, but it’s been done by some in as little as an hour. Your kit includes all the parts you need for the installation.
The Fuel Tank Vent Kit works with the FASS system. Since the stock vent line is capped off, you can still insert the return manifold into the stock line. For a cleaner installation, you could purchase the necessary fittings (nylon, iron or brass) from a local plumbing or hardware store to go from the FASS return hose directly into the 3/4" stock vent hose.
